Glacier Recession

Glacier Recession

We have heard of many kind of recessions. But the upcoming one could be of a new type. Actually this is being presented in a new form. It is the ‘Glacier recession’.
How this is going to happen is simply put, world countries burnt a lot of items to get energy, to enjoy. The world was not conservative. No more people cared about others (but a lot of love shared through facebook, and does not translate to reducing global warming). Globe got heated beyond a point and ice in the Arctic melted. The fissures protecting methane gas opened. A lot of methane blew out. Increased global temperature.
To have a look at an official version of this idea go through http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-23432769
Now let us see how the impact is going to be. The climatic change, which is actually anthropogenic (due to our human activity), leads to destruction, and leads to economic instability.
These melting glaciers make water level to raise and destroy many production sites and farming lands and create health problems world over.
The total world GDP is estimated at approximately 80 trillion dollars. It means all together can produce this much. Details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)
The damage that could be caused due to the methane warming is 60 trillion dollars.
We are in a world where Wall Street giants are declaring bankruptcy, EU is struggling to stabilize, and developing nations are suffering from corruption. On top of this the glaciers are melting and water is raising, oh no!
If you are sensitive, the problems seem to be overwhelming. Agreed. So we will have to take it part by part and person by person. So the actual problem can be solved. We have the resource, we are 7 billion people. Do we have the will?
The impact is said to be major on developing and underdeveloped nations. Logical, because these are the ones that don’t have enough measures to counter floods and other calamities.
Look at how India managed the recent Uttrakhand floods. There were many people dead and many were missing. All these were used as a platform for the politicians to show their might or to talk about the incapacity of the opposition. Both ways lives were at stake. Yes military did a commendable job. For media it was the time to increase their market share, through readership or viewership (TRP). The follow-up on issues has been as usual. What will you ask them to follow, there are too many new news items, every day.
If Uttrakhand, flood had such a devastation, think about the impact the water raise could create in a country like India.
If the ‘Arctic time bomb’ blows then 60 trillion dollars are gone, from the developing and underdeveloped countries initially. Then, it will catch up the developed nations also too. Economically the world would be dead.
Few countries may survive. They need not be the richest, but may be the fittest (may be the happiest country).
Ok now how this relates to you personally. In many ways. You are a component of this world, in many ways. There could be a gap in realizing that.
If you are not aware that this can happen, then you can be happy till it happens. Or become aware and start acting.
Spread awareness.
You have been responsible for global warming (directly or watching someone heating the globe)
Try to protect your family and generations. The pain may not be realizable when you think it is going to happen to someone somewhere or to someone after many generations.
We feel the pain when it happens to a person closer or within the generation that you can see. Whether you see it or not the pain is the same. So why not create a better world for us and others?
Assume that you will start feeling the pain and impact of whatever happens to anybody in the world. Do you think you can bare it?
Assume that even after your worldly life you will feel the pain of your generations, struggling in a hot dirty earth. If you know you will live but without your physical body and will have feelings and emotions, for a thousand years, will you not create a better world today?
Did anyone give you a guarantee of that you will not have feelings after this bodily, worldly life?
Create a better world for us.

Buddha and Goal Setting

Buddha
Buddha – says - Desire is the root cause of suffering.

Dr. David Schwartz in his book ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’  - saysWant and achieve.

Napoleon Hill in his book ‘Think and Grow Rich’ – Says -  desire and become rich.

Thiru Valluvar in his book ‘ Thirukural’  - says -  For this world you need material: For the other world you need blessings. (Thirukural is a sacred book from South India having wisdom condensed in 1330 rhyming Tamil couplets).

You know you need to work hard or smart, earn money, build family, to be living happily in this world. Which one of the above should you follow?

Accept what Buddha said and do nothing and keep quite.
Or
Follow David Schwartzs and Napolean Hills and put a bigger target on your wall and look at it daily and achieve it.
Or
Take what Valluvar said and balance money and blessing to live better in this world and later in the other world.

What should you do?

Do what you feels is right for you. But the key is, clarity, on why you should select what path you should select.

What do you really want? what is the most important to you? Money, freedom, time, recognition, helping others. This is a famous question of many motivational speakers. These factors are stacked in a pyramid and find an important place in the management studies, as to what motivates a person.

But think deeply. What one really wants is happiness, am I not right in saying that? See where money, freedom and time or any of these lead to, happiness. A perceived happiness.

Did you stay happy with that last promotion, last vacation or are you really enjoying the freedom. No, you have always wanted more. You are trained to ask for more and more. Do you know what happiness is really, no because in this system it is like a mirage. As you move and reach a certain point, the happiness has already moved a bit far.

We all assume or have been trained to assume that happiness is defined by having or doing or thinking something.

The fact is, it is already there, you just don’t need any other factor to have it. The only thing between us and happiness is acceptance.

Now select whichever path you want to get there. The whole point is any path you select happiness is pre-existing.

TEAM WORK

Friends

I would like to share one of the most interesting and simple team building activities. It is fun and a solid activity to prove how important team work and focus are.

Requirements:

1) Your team, more than 10 people would be good. More the participants more the fun.

2) A long plastic/PVC pipe, or any similar material (a long stick light weight)

What do you do:

1) Separate your team into two, give them team names.

2) Each team member to stand in a row facing an opponent of the other team (like in the beginning American football game)

3) Ask them to go to kneel down (or bend to chair position)

4) Ask all of the team members to point at his opponent with their index fingers

5) Now using all their index fingers as the base keep the long pipe/stick horizontally

6) There is only one simple rule: Any given time all fingers to be in touch with pipe/stick

7) Now announce their targets: To lift the pipe/stick to a height above the tallest persons head

Observations:

1) Most of the teams struggle to bring the stick up as it always fall lower and lower

2) With a strategy and team focus the stick can be taken upwards

Inferences:

1) Even the simplest task becomes very difficult when done by a team without unity.
2) Once the team wants to achieve something and gets focused, any strategy can be implemented with much lesser effort.

Do this activity and make your team enjoy and at the same time make them realize the power of a focus and teamship.

Share the results if you have tried and share your ideas like these which worked well for you
